Deutsche Bank began life in 1870 as a foreign trade bank. By the 20th century we pioneered movements in mergers and acquisitions (such as the merger of Daimler and Benz in 1926). Today Deutsche Bank is one of the world’s largest investment banks, as well as a key sponsor of the arts, community development, education and music. Integral to Deutsche Bank’s attitude to business is Corporate Social Responsibility. This is translated into many initiatives supporting education, job creation and poverty relief. We also assist and recognize employees who help social causes through volunteering and Deutsche Bank matches donations raised by employees for charitable causes. Deutsche Bank spent € 72.9 million in 2004 on community development, education and science, arts and music. This grew to almost € 86 million in 2006.
